Brad,
if it's urgent, you could downgrade to an earlier version by simply doing 
something like:
sudo dpkg -i /sw/fink/debs/ghostscript_8.64-1_darwin-i386.deb
Here the available earlier versions depend on what packages you have previously 
built (and not deleted), but I assume you will find the last version that 
worked for you by doing "ls -l /sw/fink/debs/ghostscript*"
