It's an upstream bug, not explicitly linking against the libraries it 
uses. Probably works fine on linux (darwin's dynamic linker/loader has 
much stricter requirements about that) and maybe used to work in fink 
before we had to support Apple's more recent x11. It's been broken for 
months now and reported to maintainer several times (I just sent him a 
msg on IRC), maybe you'll have some luck rousing him to action if you 
contact him directly?
