I am also unable to reproduce this on 10.5/PPC with XQuartz-2.6.1. I'm not sure how I would go about downgrading to Apple's X11 to get XQuartz 2.1.6 to test this configuration. In any case, I am heading on the road for the next ten days, and will not have my 10.5 laptop with me for testing. Unless someone else can reproduce this problem, I have to wonder whether it might be some problem specific to your machine. Perhaps your machine has some sort of OS or X11 corruption.
