Have you rebuilt aspell?  If so and the problem continues, look for any clues 
in Console.app when xterm is locked up.  Maybe there is some hint there of what 
might be going on.

For any new folks seeing this thread, the original problem report was:

Also, please stop top posting.  It is very difficult to follow the thread when 
some people top post, and others bottom post in the same thread.  People 
naturally read from top to bottom, so if you want to follow the thread the old 
stuff needs to be at the top, and the new posts at the bottom.  If you want 
people to help, you should try to make it easy for them to help you.

And, let's keep Fink-Users in the loop too, as we are pretty much at the end of 
my expertise, and there are several much more knowledgeable folks there who may 
have other useful troubleshooting suggestions.
