For gnome I have in that shell: say "gnome" & icewm & /sw/lib/gnome-settings-daemon/gnome-settings-daemon & test -r /sw/bin/gnome-session && exec /sw/bin/gnome-session
If i choose the xterm from X11 I can run gnome-session & and it will start gnome up. It ignors icewm.
