Yes, it's OK. It has hopefully the micro-typography enabled XeTeX! Besides this there was an update to XeTeX a few months ago because of a real bug. And besides this, XeTeX needs the microtype package from TLcontrib! Otherwise it won't make use of its internal capabilities. Gerben Wierda has retired. He even does not contribute to TeX Live.
