Running the postinstall script fixed the dist symlink.
Then I got an error during selfupdate about libintl.3.dylib. Rather than
being linked to nothing like dist was, it was linked to junk (something
like "asm? 3oshap"), but pointing it to the correct library fixed that
problem.
And then there was an error about g++. Manually adding symlinks for it and
gcc to the compiler wrapper after poking around a bit did the trick.
Everything appears normal for now. Thanks again for the tip. I'm not sure
why these other issues arose, but they are apparently not serious.
