We generally recommend that people rename /usr/local temporarily when building packages with Fink, because there isn’t an easy way to hide it from the build tools. For locale-gettext-pm5182 specifically, there has been a problem with somebody’s third-party libintl libraries. We’ve uploaded pre-build binaries for Yosemite, so as an alternative, you might want to follow the instructions for 10.10 on http://bindist.finkmirrors.net/10.10/dists/stable/main/ to enable access to the binaries. You’ll want to add the deb http://bindist.finkproject.org/10.10 stable main line in one of the areas marked “make local modifications here”, since the current fink-0.38.2 isn’t set up to recognize that as an official location. This will be updated soon in fink-0.38.3. That will avoid the need to move /usr/local around, in case you’re running something from there or that links to something from there, and also cut down on having to build from scratch. -- Alexander Hansen, Ph.D. Fink User Liaison
