Hi Daniel
Thanks for the reply. Please find the attached files for the log from the pysparse build “out” and a copy of the modified setup.py file. I just struck out the original libraries_list line in the default setting section and replaced it with libraries_list=[]. While building it gave me lots of warnings.

Look for settings for the sun systems in setup.py. There are two

#SunOS sophokles 5.8 Generic_108528-15 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun- Fire-880

and

# SunOS zuse 5.6 Generic_105181-21 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra- Enterprise

Try the library_dirs_list and libraries_list for these machines. You may need to edit these for your particular configuration.

I understand that pysparse built for you, but it looks like there were some missing symbols.

When you have built pysparse with new settings then try

    >>> import pysparse
    >>> pysparse.__version__

and

    >>> from pysparse import precon

If you manage to get pysparse working correctly, then we can fix the setup.py to build correctly on sun. That is assuming
you have a fairly standard configuration.

Good luck.

Thank you again.

Hi Rashmi,

Thanks for emailing the list. I'll try and answer your questions below.

I modified setup.py in the source directory for SunOS and it seems to be installed now. Following are the last few lines from the installation log.

Could we take a look at the setup,py you edited for pysparse. The problem you are having is a pysparse problem and not a fipy problem as such.
I assume you can do the following at a python prompt,

    >>> import pysparse
    >>> pysparse.__version__

and that returns '1.0.1'. Correct? When you do

    >>> from pysparse import precon

is when you have the problem. Correct?

Can you do the following as well.

    - Remove your build/ directory from the base pysparse directory
- Rebuild pysparse but write the output to a file (python setup.py build > out)
    - Pass "out" back to us

The log from a build may help us diagnose the problem.

Once this starts working I will post a detail installation procedure for Sun Solaris 9 which I could not find anywhere on the web.

That would be great, but setting up the pysparse setup.py to work correctly by default for sun os would be even better.

Sorry for the long email and thanks in advance.
