A VPC report, http://www.vpc.org/studies/dv3myth.htm
<http://www.vpc.org/studies/dv3myth.htm> , states (citing the 1998
Supplementary Homicide Report) that of 1,932 single-offender/single-victim
homicides of women by men, 1,699 involved acquaintances and 138 involved
strangers (in the remainder the relationship was unknown). Any sense of
whether that's accurate? The ratio seems quite high to me, and it seems
inconsistent with data from the 1998 UCR,
http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/Cius_98/98crime/98cius07.pdf
<http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/Cius_98/98crime/98cius07.pdf> , which counts 3,419
homicides of women (I assume that it's unlikely that nearly half of these
were by women, multiple-victim, or multiple-offender).

Can anyone shed any light on this? Are there any other studies, or Web
sites, that touch on this? Thanks,

Eugene
