I have the vague recollection that the Springfield shooting case was
stopped by a student who was a NRA member who realized the shooter was
reloading and used this opportunity to tackle the shooter.  If true, it
proved that knowing about gun helped save lives, even for a disarmed
individual.

I believe also that Israel has a few cases.
