Intellectual bankruptcy can only hide behind "judicial courtesy" for so
long.  The written Constitution is meaningless to the "Liberals" on the
Supreme Court.  As Justice Thomas once said "they make it up as they
go."  I think Justice Scalia just reached the breaking point with
Stevens.

Perhaps I simply have read too few decisions by the Supremes, but
Scalia mocking evisceration of Stevens’ dissent seems exceptional. 
Granted Steven’s opinions have recently entered the realm of science
fiction, but Scalia’s assault treats Stevens (rightly) with a very heavy
hand.
