concealed carry legislative history?

Can anyone point me in the direction of a study on the history of concealed carry 
legislation (ca 1800-2000)?
This seems to be one of the key firearms legislation issues around since the early 
1990's. It seems to have been at least somewhat of an issue during the 19th century 
(for example the 1892 Vermont Supreme Court declaration that licenses were 
unconstitutional). What was the situation pre- 1990's etc.
