I was speaking only about statements issued by UDR, as it was the

I don't have any preference, but I would insist on having the same 
behaviour for PSQL and external routines. So, unless we're going to 
change the legacy behaviour, the default option should be (a). I don't 
mind having (b) available optionally, via an explicit clause.
