Exactly! In a world where computers and software evolve at blazing speed 
it seems rather much to request that a software such as Firebird be 12+ 
years backwards compatible.

I might accept to keep the last dialect 1 supporting version to be kept 
alive a little while longer, for *very* critical bug fixes.

For the rest: move *forward*!
