Well it is correct for an application built over a RDBMS database as a data
layer.
My application doesn't depend on any database. It is a real-time data
capture engine and does everything including storage on its own. It has
HINTS like filters, metadata to process data for queries. Please note that
this application exists for over 10years and it has client interfaces like
C++ and Tcl for data retrieval.
All I am using from Firebird is its SQL interface. But since SQL sits on
top of my application I am exploring ways to pass HINTS that my application
understands but for SQL Parser doesn't.
Hope this helps!!
