Agreed. In fact (as I'll explain below) we had to do a fair amount of 
"tap-dancing" back in those early days to ensure that the pointed-to licence 
text was the correct one.

Borland/Inprise was doing some shifty things then.  When they reverted the 
company name to Borland, they also altered the licence and gave it a new 
version number.  Since the source code for Firebird was that released under 
v.1.0 of the licence, we had to keep those links under observation for a while.

Probably;  but AFAIR, by that time we were consistently pointing to the copy of 
the original licence which was archived on the IBPhoenix site.  In the early 
days, IBPhoenix was hosting the Firebird pages (such as they were).  Later, 
when Atkin/Broadview was hosting us on the old Atkin servers, the services were 
pretty unstable so keeping the licence archives on the IBPhoenix servers seemed 
the best option available.

Actually, v.1.0 of the licence disappeared earlier than that, some time in 
2000.  I can still recall ploughing around Google caches searching for the 
original licence, well before we released Fb 1.0.
