Another useful cross platform tool ... BeyondCompare ... one of the few tools I actually bought, but it works in parallel with my other IDE tools and handles comparisons such as between binary forms in Delphi and BCB applications. It allows comparison between directories, but also very usefully, zip/tar backups. In the past I always produced a zip of the source code for a version build and one can quickly cross check when a regression is detected or some strange change needs tracking. Not a replacement for the DVCS local clones of different branches, but a useful backup that avoids the need to create extra clones most of the time. BC also has a nice three way mode when trying to merge local changes with the base code and other peoples pushes. -- Lester Caine - G8HFL ----------------------------- Contact - http://lsces.co.uk/wiki/?page=contact L.S.Caine Electronic Services - http://lsces.co.uk EnquirySolve - http://enquirysolve.com/ Model Engineers Digital Workshop - http://medw.co.uk Rainbow Digital Media - http://rainbowdigitalmedia.co.uk ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dive into the World of Parallel Programming The Go Parallel Website, sponsored by Intel and developed in partnership with Slashdot Media, is your hub for all things parallel software development, from weekly thought leadership blogs to news, videos, case studies, tutorials and more.
