Any release is a landmark; it establishes a baseline. It allows users to relate to this version, and in case of problems, know if their problems are common for a given release, or specific to a system; it allows to have common solutions (like "for version X.Y.Z, there is a problem foo, and a workaround is bar"). It allows for normal bug reporting against specific version.

Snapshots are fine only for testing. Users would never be able to compare their problems if their user versions would be different dailies.

(Not that I'm personally affected by the frequency of FB releases :))
