First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List ......................................................................... Welcome Doug, you have a good platform to play with. You can and should contact Eaton Springs, they have all the original specs and can make you a set of springs (front & Rear) that will be for your application (not a generic one spring fits all Camaro's) that will give you the stance you request (lowered say 1-2"). I'm not sure, but you might be able to get something similar (or close) with PST? Not sure who they go through? If you go with Poly bushings make sure they are the Graphite Poly (impregnated with graphite) to keep things smooth and quiet longer. A good compromise is to use all the suspension bushings as Poly, & the body bushings as rubber. Slightly smoother ride with much improved handling. Better yet are the Del-Alum solid busings, might be overkill with this application though. You should also contact Primatech Motorsports International (Quenton) http://primatechmotorsports.com/ for improving the OHC's performance. You can easily make it a Camaro eater, with a 6 Cyl and have the overall lighter package of the OHC (better weight distribution) That with better gearing and even a TH350 behind the OHC would really wake it up. My first car was a 67 Sprint-6 (better cam, intake, 4V and exhaust) with a 3-speed and it surprised everyone with how well it performed for a Bone Stock 6-Cyl! These cars/motors are something special. Good luck with the project and keep us posted on the progress. Brett - 67 Drop Top 455! (Seattle) Subject: Hi and questionFrom: "Douglas Cole" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hi, new guy here. I am very used to Thirdgen and Forthgen Firebirds, I own a 1984, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991 and 2000. I love Firebirds, in fact the only cars I have ever owned are Firebirds. I even have a Thirdgen screamin' chicken tattooed on my back. However, I have joined because I am helping my Dad restore his 1967 Firebird. Little history on it, my great uncle bought it for his wife who in turn never got her drivers licence. It has a accumulated a total of 49,xxx miles on it. So, that is a little about me. My question: We are doing basically an upgrade and restore on the 67. It is a 230cc OHC 6. So, what I am wondering is, what would be a good suspension kit for it? I was thinking some sort of multi-leaf rear springs to replace the mono-leaf spring, polyurethane bushings all around, some sort of upgraded shocks, sway bar kit front and rear, and new springs up front. However, all the kits are for a V-8. What is the weight difference in the engines between the OHC 6 and the 327? It is listed at 200lbs between a I6 and a 327, however I don't know how much of that is engine vs upgraded other things. Thanks!Douglas _________________________________________________________________ i’m is proud to present Cause Effect, a series about real people making a difference. http://im.live.com/Messenger/IM/MTV/?source=text_Cause_Effect ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Submissions to Firebird-L: <[email protected]> Unsubscribe from Firebird-L: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Help: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/firebird/Firebird-L.html>
