I went with the original style top. I thought about doing a cloth top, but
then I realized I am not really interested in taking the car out if I can't
do it with the top down so why pay more for something that won't be seen. I
also think it is easier to keep clean.

Welcome Jim!
Any pictures of the car? The motor sounds rather cool as well!!
You can go through Ames or one of the like though there are other's who
have
gone all out and bought a Hertz top. Others, like Bjorn in Houston, never
put the top up... LOL
Not sure on the manual discs but that sure would be nice at times!

Hello all,
I am Jim Wall from Denver, CO. I have a 67 400 4 speed convertible and
have
had it since 1979. Dad was a car guy and very good to me and paid 2k
for
it
off a used car lot and repainted it white, was gulf turquoise, and redid
the
top. I drove the wheels off it as I was young. Out ran the Denver police
twice in it, drag raced it and generally enjoyed the heck out of it. The
wz
motor is out of it and stored at the moment. Has a 400 with RA II heads,
factory
exhaust manifolds, crane RA IV blueprint cam, crane anti pump up
lifters,
edelbrock torker 1 intake, Holley 750 double pumper and a Nova 12 bolt
posi with
4.11 gears worked over to fit the mono leaf springs. Runs like stink.
Anyhow
I am 44 know and was attending a funeral for the father of a child hood
friend and everybody was asking about the "Bird." Well, the car is a bit
tired
and it is time to get it back up to speed so my question to you all is
who
sells a quality convertible top? I am aware of Ames and Performance
years
and
look at them as a sort of quality control mechanism but I would like to
hear to
some experienced opinions. I understand the Hartz cloth is not original
but
sure appeals to me.
Thanks,
Jim
ps has manual disk brakes, kinda rare or no?
