Another great question. I believe it is a mater of personal opinion/taste.
I am a firm believer in upgrading mechanical components with modern technology
for improved performance and safety. Such as suspension, brakes etc. In doing
so, luckily for those with a similar mind set, we have soooo much more to
choose from then we did say even 5-10 years ago. Let alone 20+ years ago as
when I was building my last birds in the 80's

With this one I've upgraded the suspension (still plan to do more) Herb Adams
front & rear sway bars, PolyGraphite Bushings new springs etc. 4 wheel disc
brakes, Posi Rear, better ignition components, better exhaust, engine mods
better tunes etc... all things that will make "MY" car more enjoyable to me,
and at the same time safer to drive over all with the advances in technology.

I try to do as much as possible with period type components or make them look
period correct (grinding the Edelbrock lettering off the intake and painting
it as stock) in order to keep the stock factory appearance especially to the
untrained eye. I even plan on going with an extra set of wheels and tires to
be able to completely change the look and feel of the car by just swapping the
wheels depending on where I'm going, Cruise Night or Show-N-Shine.

I say Build em the way you would have ordered them, and the way that you want.
That's why I'd never buy say a true RAI convertible (even if I could afford it)
as I'd probably never feel comfortable driving it in todays traffic... My car
is no where close to a perfectly restored 67, but it's perfect to me, and it's
being built the way "I" want my car to be...

To be honest, there are only a handfull of "restored" cars out there, the
majority
are resto-mods as 90% of these cars out there are modified or deviate from it's
stock form... when you get right down to it.

Not to change the subject too drastically but what do you guys think of
numbers matching versus the restromod idea for car values, if you stick with
the
all Pontiac theme.
