First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List ......................................................................... Is that the rag joint the connects the steering column to the steering box?

Went to pick up my '69 yesterday, following bodywork re-build after crash. Front end looks perfect but garage informed me that car was still un-driveable. They discovered that the coupling in the driveshaft had torn loose. We opened the hood and they showed me the problem. The rubber grommet was split and the coupling connection was spinning freely back and forth. Also, the steering wheel had way too much free play. It's an after- market wheel, a "racing" wheel, smaller than standard. This could have been the cause of the accident. Time to get to work researching this. Anyone who has any experience with the drive-shaft, comments would be much appreciated as always. - Dan O'Brien ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Submissions to Firebird-L: <[email protected]> Unsubscribe from Firebird-L: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Help: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/firebird/Firebird-L.html> Classifieds: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/ubb/> Owner Pictures: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/show/> Donations: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/store/cart.mv?999999> FGF Merchandise: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/store> ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Submissions to Firebird-L: <[email protected]> Unsubscribe from Firebird-L: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Help: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/firebird/Firebird-L.html> Classifieds: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/ubb/> Owner Pictures: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/show/> Donations: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/store/cart.mv?999999> FGF Merchandise: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/store>
