I picked up a 69 coupe "400" and it has what seems to be a 4 speed conversion (by the butchering of the tunnel) but I sent for the packet and it verified that it's a real 4 speed 400. Hugo

The information they send you will tell you what drivetrain and other options came in your Pontiac from the factory. Engine, transmission, and rear are not coded in the VIN. Other options might be listed on the data plate, but most aren't.
