Garth, I just put a winch on my car trailer. I didn't want to fool with
having a battery on the trailer itself, locking it down, keeping it charged,
etc. What I did was ran some heavy guage wire under my truck up to the
battery itself. I put a fuse inline on it. On the back of the truck hidden
up under the bumper I put a dryer plug [ hey its redneck but it works
great.] I put a dryer cord to the sylinoid so now when I hook my trailer
to the truck, I just plug it in along with my light plug and it not only has
full charge to the winch but with the truck running its getting extra
voltage from the alt to give the winch a boost! You could also put a
battery on the trailer if you wanted and do the same thing so when you hook
the truck up you will be charging the trailer battery as well if you wanted
to. Daniel Ray
