First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List ......................................................................... Hi Andy, just thought I'd chime in on the subject... I use both, but enjoy this list better. As others have mentioned there are more pitfalls with the message boards, but both have a great deal to offer. True, you do log on each time you visit, and this can be automated... but you would have to navigate and search for the post or info you are after, but it is broken down into specific categories and there are search functions etc. So it's not nearly as bad as it may seem at face value. There is a Wealth of info archived and available on the website as a whole... I'd have to say both should be used, perhaps this list would work better for you over all, but I think you would like both and would gain a lot from both. I know I do, including many people I've met who I consider to be good friends. I'm also on the BAF list, Pro-Touring.com, NorthwestLegends GTO site, and the Western Washington Firebirds email list... I used to frequent more but had to cut back for obvious reasons! (like not enough time in one day) Mostly the FGF site & List and the local stuff really quick. Haven't posted much on the BAF group, but try to read them when I can... Brett - 67 Drop Top 455! From: "Andy" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hey Bjorn, Seeing as you are the number two poster on the FGF boards (10926 postings, and counting), you seem to be the logical person to ask about how the boards compare to this list. Do you recommend using the boards over the list? The stats on the site suggest a much more active site than this list. Do you think that the content of those 134148 posts is as of as high a quality as it is here? How would you compare the two? Here, all of the posts come to me (I use an email client that downloads messages. I rarely read email online unless I'm traveling), and I can deal with the stream of messages as they come in. I can see threads and can read, save or delete messages at will. With the boards, it looks like I'd have to log on to the site and drill into each and every topic if I wanted to see all the posts. Is that right? With 14700 topics, that would be a lot of drilling, but if there is a lot more going on, it may be worth it. When everything comes to me, I can plow through a lot of message very quickly, but if I have to seek them out and drill down through nearly 15000 topics, I sense a huge increase in the time required. Based on your number of postings, the boards seem to work well for you. How do you manage all of those topics and postings? Does anyone else here use both? Thanks,Andy _________________________________________________________________ Use video conversation to talk face-to-face with Windows Live Messenger. http://www.windowslive.com/messenger/connect_your_way.html?ocid=TXT_TAGLM_WL_Refresh_messenger_video_072008 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Submissions to Firebird-L: <[email protected]> Unsubscribe from Firebird-L: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Help: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/firebird/Firebird-L.html>
