First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List ......................................................................... Ghost town!!? I guess I have to contribute with some mail to prevent the list from dieing. I've been on this list for nearly ten years and certainly have no intention to leave. I admit that I've gone into lurking mode nowadays though. Hopefully that will change now when I have a new Bird in my hands.
I sold my old Bird one hour ago! It was with mixed emotions I saw it roll away down the street with a new owner behind the wheel. Oh well, life goes on. You might look at it as my practice car, now it's time for the real one. This winter I bought a '68 400 coupe from Cincinnati with the help of Bob Trimpe from this list. It's a numbers matching car in Verdoro green which I always wanted. It looks good from a distance but still need a lot of love. For instance the floor boards are rusted and the suspension needs rebuilding. I'm sure there will be questions for you guys on the list in the future. /Niklas Gothenburg, Sweden -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Andy Sent: Thursday, July 10, 2008 7:28 AM To: First Generation Firebird-L Subject: Re: [FGF] First Gen Boards First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List ........................................................................ . Thanks for all of the replies. I agree with Paul that part of the problem with switching is developing new habits. I've been on this and other lists for a long time, and for me, the best part of lists is the serendipity. In quickly screening all of the messages that come in, I come across things I might never have otherwise learned. It's a lot tougher if I have to go drilling for messages. It's the same problem as with reading news online vs. reading a newspaper. With the former, you tend to only read the stuff that reinforces what you already think, rather than continuing to broaden your horizons by coming across something new. It's a shame that the boards are less user-friendly, as the traffic on this list has really tapered off. I guess I'll search the boards for answers when I can't get the answer here, but despite the inferior functionality of the boards, it seems that it's only a matter of time before this list becomes a ghost town.
