My 69 seems to have an actual vent that is hidden under the rear bumper.  If it
has a vent there would be no need for a vented cap.  It might be different on
the 67,68 because they had the filler neck higher up.  The 69 with a vented cap
might slosh fuel out since the fill tube is several inches lower.

I'm by no means an expert but does your fuel system have a return line? It
has been quite some time since I drove my '67 but I think it had a non-vented
cap and a return line to the tank since it came with a 400. Sometimes it
would release pressure when I stopped to get gas but never got so tight that I
needed channel locks. "67 and "68 could very well be different also.

I  have a '68 400 with a 4-speed manual, and Rochester Quadrajet.  I  am
running a stock mechanical fuel pump.  I installed brand new  stainless steel
fuel lines.

I live in the Dallas area where it gets  muy caliente in the summer.  My gas
tank seems to build up a lot of  pressure after I go for a drive.  Is that
normal?  Once it was so  high that I had to use channel locks to loosen my
gas cap.  Sure don't  want anything to blow up.  Should I use a vented  gas
cap?

Thanks,
Bobby
