you have to release the clutch from the pressure plate.  Then the trans
will slide in.......

I checked the pilot bearing and it fits right over the trans shaft,
i.e. not too small. Hmmmm?

know the trans shaft is sitting in clutch. I used the plastic alignment
tool that came with the clutch kit. I don't know how I could disengage
the clutch since the motor is not in the car. > > I think I might pull
