It's been a couple of months since I've written.  First, an update.  With a new 
battery, alternator, voltage regulator and disconnecting an aftermarket stereo 
system my 68 is running well.  Actually, it may be running too well, which 
leads to my question.  Before adding these new parts the voltmeter would read 
between 10 and 12 when the car was running.  After adding the new parts the car 
is running between 16 and 18 volts.  My Chilton's said I need to adjust the 
voltage regulator.  I went online to see if this problem has been experienced 
by others.  One person described a similar problem, and the person helping them 
asked if they had a mechanical or electronic voltage regulator, since the 
mechanical variety may need adjusted while the electronic wouldn't.  I called 
AutoZone about mine, and the employee said they'd never heard of adjusting a 
voltage regulator.

Before performing surgery on my new regulator I'd appreciate your input.  Do I 
need to adjust the regulator?  If so, how do I do it?  Thanks again for your 
help!
