I had that problem on my S-10 and it turned out to be a mounting screw had
grounded out the ground wire.  The switch in the S-10, and I assume most
vehicles, controls the ground side, not the hot side, so when the ground wire
under my carpet got snagged on a screw and the insulation wore thru it turned
the light on.  You might have a bad pin switch in the door jam or the wire from
it is grounding out.

I've got a weird problem in my 67 coupe where the interior lights won't turn
off unless I pull the fuse.  Any suggestions for troubleshooting this?
