Ed,

There are two "96" heads.

- '68 RA-II, 71 cc
- '71 , 96cc

The '68 would be much better for your 400, and the '71 would be better for a
455. But the '71 "96" could be run on a 400 and use 87 octane pump gas all
day long, and not have to run premium.

How much were you quoted? Cores or rebuilt already?

Thomas

I have the chance to buy a pair of "96" heads that are open chamber, large
valve, with screw in studs that have been reconditioned. I would be
interested in using them on a 400 or 455 if I can find one. I am not really
concerned with building a race or high performance but a peppy street
engine. Does anyone have an opinion or recommendation or suggestion? I
currently have a '69 400 engine with "46" heads.
Thanks,
Ed
68 conv.
