On my convertible I get to the top mounts from the back seat. Unscrew the top well cover from the seat back and you can see a hole in the body frame work where you can get your hand and a wrench into if you have to. I had one bolt that the nut weld had broke and someone before me put a jam nut on the bolt. I also broke a bolt and drilled it out from below.
