I was able to slide the fasteners into the additional piece, but the
adhesive holding the extra piece to the sail panel eventually failed on
both panels (within a week or two, as I recall). I reinstalled using velcro.

I've got my headliner in and need to install the new sail panels I bought from
CI. The originals have 3 square metal fastner retainers glued onto the backing.
The repo's have an additional piece of backing with holes glued onto the
backing instead (cheaper materials). The holes appear to be the retainer for
the fastener. I tried slipping a sail panel fastner into the hole but it
doesn't seem to want to slide in. Has anyone done this? Any advice? Did you use
the original sail panel fastners, etc.?
