I installed a Vintage Air system in my non-AC '68. It works really well.
The instructions are actually written for the Camaro, but most of it
applies to either make. Before you replace the factory AC, be aware that
with the kit:
No fresh air through the dash vents.
No temperature adjustment (you can adjust the temp by adjusting the
fresh air flow through the kick panel vents)
Fan speeds are noticeably faster (and louder) than stock
The kits are specifically designed for non-AC cars, so you may have to
fab something for your AC firewall. Someone else here should be able to
suggest a fix.

Hi Everyone,
I'm nearing the end of my engine rebuild, and preparing to take the Firebird
in for body work and paint.
Right now I'm getting all of my parts together, and want to replace my
factory air conditioning with an after-market unit as the suitcase is
slightly damaged and it makes the engine compartment extremely crowded.
I'm considering either a Classic Air or Vintage Air system, and I wanted to
see if anyone has any experience with these systems and which one is
recommended.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Brant
