Eric,
Have you ever looked at Recaro SRD seats? While they are a little out of
line with what you're looking for they are a great aftermarket seat with a
wide variety of mounting options in a fully adjustable seat. I've seen quite
a few of them in First gens over the years and with black custom interior
they look right at home. Look at ProCar as well.
Pretty much any seat you get will not be a bolt in deal, you will need to
make an adapter plate to get them to work. People have done them, and the
fit.

Year one makes covers for the 4th gen seats to go with hounds-tooth cloth in
the camaros, but they might now make them in regular colors.

Personally if it were me, Recaro Profi SPG XL I guess that is the road racer
in me.

Also, you may want to look into Subaru Impreza or WRX seats (not sti), VERY
supportive, with all the adjustable bits. They can be had for around 200
bucks a pair sometimes more, sometimes less.

Wow, ok so I totally went off from where you wanted to go with that...

I have never really liked any of the GM seats that I have sat in from a
spirited driving aspect, except for Vette seat. Then again I don't even like
the stock e36 M 3 Vaders (unless they are suede).

Ok I'll end my rant on ill fitting seats by saying that I still have the
stock seats in my firebird and basically fall all over the place while
driving.
