First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List
.........................................................................
I took the usual left and right turn while working on my 69 Firebird. First, a
while back, I purchased the Hotchkis 2" lowering spring, which lowers our cars
about 1", maybe. Then, I shifted gears and purchased the SSBC 2" lowering
spindle while also picking up the Global West Tubular Control Arms. The SSBC
spindle is the one that allows using the factory brakes and some 14" or just
about any 15" rims.
Now I don't need both lowering springs and spindles. But I do need to know
what springs are out there that are factory height, or more, and I do want the
handling without a total lumber wagon, race-only ride.
The reason I am doing the changing is because I was on a motor-cross track last
year during the Gretna BOP drags and it was hard not to get hurt. I just have
to do that again, except faster and safer.
Which springs should I have? Who needs a heck of a buy or a great trade so I
can get what I need?
Also, which rear springs should I be looking at? I am running the two full
leaf plus one half leaf, factory? ones that might have come with the car. It
is a factory 400 air conditioned, convertible.
Thanks in advance.
