First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List ......................................................................... As a fairly new classic car enthusiast I didn't realize I should have been checking periodically under the trunk mat to see if water had been collecting there. Now 4 years later l have some surface rust and several rusty areas where I could actually chip the spatter paint away. I have taken a wire brush to the spots but am concerned there may be rust forming under the splatter paint but just hasn't bubbled up yet. I'm considering removing the splatter paint and redoing just to see if there is any other damage.
Looking for recommendations on the best way to do this; remove w/ wire wheel,
chemical removers, other ideas? Otherwise the trunk is in very good condition, I just want to keep it that way.
