you need some fundamentals to accomplish this task:

1) the body must be straight and mounted properly to the subframe wih the proper fwd alignment
2) the body is fixed
3) everything fwd ( doors, fenders, bumper, grill, etc will move and can be aligned.

NOS parts will insure you have the parts an experienced person (or someone with time and tenacity to complete the task) will be able utilize to align the parts properly. assuming you have the shims, spacers, etc.

it's good sport.

personally, I like my front end in the same lane I'm sitting behind the wheel.

Subject: [FGF] LH Fender fit

First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List
.........................................................................
Hi everyone,

About 6 years ago I purchased two NOS GM Fenders and had them shipped to Oz.
Just prior to that I purchased a 68 C*m*ro LH Fender.

I've been trying to hang the new NOS LH Fender as well as the C*m*ro LH
Fender and both just don't fit. I can get the lines right with the door but
I end up with a 1/4 inch gap where the central line is that runs along the
Fender, Door and Qtr Panel. I can't shim the door out because my inside
lines are prefect in relation to the door jams & sill. I have the same
inside gaps on the RH side and all is well.

My old LH Fender fits fine and the gaps are all really good but it needs
repair work.

We are going to run with repairing the original LH Fender but I just
wondered if anyone had experienced similar problems with a LH Fender on a
'68 Convertible?

The RH NOS Fender fit perfectly with the usual set of shims.

Cheers,
Dale '68 Conv in Oz.
