There were two "46" cashing heads that year. One version has 1.96/1.66
valves, and the other has 2.11/1.66. For a 400 or 455, you really want to
make sure you have the 2.11/1.66. Then take it to your engine shop and have
the exhaust enlarged to 1.77.

This head's bigger 89-98cc chambers will be a good head on a 400 that will
run all day long on 87 octane, since it will yield you about 8.7:1. I run
6X-4 on my 400 which is essentially the same as a 2.11/1.66 "46". There is
plenty of power for my cruiser car. I turn low 15's in the quarter, and
that is on 3.23 gears and a overdrive transmission. I also get almost 20
mpg on the road with my 400.

On a 455, this same head will turn into much more of a beast. The
compression again goes up, and it would be a good choice for a powerful cam.

I don't know about putting a blower on a 350, never done it. If the
compression ratio is right, it would work fine I'm sure. But make sure your
bottom end can handle the boost.

I just purchased a 1970, 350 motor with 1973-74 # 46 large valve, screw
in?stud heads that were designed 1974 GTO 350, motor.??????? The #46?are
rated at 7.6 cr with 89 cc when applied to the 1974, 350.?????The 1970 GTO
455 motor with large valve #64 heads were 87cc.???? My question, does anyone
know whether or not these #46 heads can be used on a 400 or 455 blocks
effectively.???? Can the #46 heads be used effectively on a 350 block with a
blower set up, seeing as how the c.r. is only 7.6.
Not sure if the?#46?heads were used in any other application other than the
1974 GTO.
