I have the vacuum unilite, also. My setup ran better in all aspects without the advance, so it is not connected. Sometimes the performance cam / rear gear can do that to you. I have always had better luck with the vacuum advance when the engine / rear gear is more near to stock. I haven't tried to adjust the vacuum advance to match it up to the engine, yet so I can not tell you if if would run smoother. Runs excellent now, so I don't know if I will. Bottom line, if you have it, use it. If it is 'doggie' then trade it or sell it and go the vacuum route.

I have a unilite with a vacuum advance on my firebird, it would be a good idea to have vac advance for part time throttle operation. check you may be
able to convert it.
