First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List ......................................................................... well,really, on this firebird I just installed the used 455 motor,then put in the mallory distr., fired it up and broke in the ram air 4 cam, then off it went to get painted... he had it 2 years... got it back,started up fine,ran a little rough,open headers,played with the carb a .little and noticed I picked up about 300 rpms advancing the distr. a little bit. but it won't start in that position.. too much advance..put it back and starts fine again, and has started backfiring thru the exhaust ,and getting worse.. one of my friends said he thinks the cam is going out,I didn't put any additive in the oil when I changed it 2 years ago.. I will play with it some this weekend when I'm off..
