Half my car is not with the car.. the whole interior is in an upstairs bedroom, the hood and fenders are in my backyard, and the rest of the car is in my garage. But I didn't have any trouble getting insurance on it from Hagerty for stated value. I sent them photos of all the stuff. With the collector insurance I was able to register it without an emissions test and now it has plates. I think I got around $10,000 of coverage for something less then $200 a year.

While were on the subject of insurance. My car is not yet complete, but I do have a good amount of cash wrapped up in it so far. At what point is it insurable, and what companies will do this? I've heard enough stories about a shop burning down or getting broke into and the owner didn't have enough insurance. I'd rather not roll the dice here.
