Adding tooth count (on driven gear) will slow the spedo, subtracting will speed it up. Typically, 5% change per tooth. Most cases only the driven gear needs to be changed. It you change the drive gear the tail housing needs to come off. Not difficult, just messy. Any GM dealer that still has the old paper catalogs can provide a chart of proper drive and driven gears for different tire/axle ratio combinations. Note.. the catalogs show the old style tire sizes which you will have to convert to metric tire size.
