Hello Paul, there is no error message, I just can't open FbDataConnectionUIControl as a property editor inside the fbConnection control.
If you take a look at the second image in the description under http://www.firebirdsql.org/firebirdtutorial/fbconnection-component.html there is a button at the end of the input for the connection string visible to open the property editor. This functionality is not available.
