Hi, my (Gentoo) Linux distribution wants me to update from Firebird 2.5.3.26780.0-r3 to (at least) Firebird 2.5.7.27050.0. Can I just compile the new version, start it, and all is fine; or do I have to run the complete backup/restore cycle as I have to when upgrading to a new major version (for example, 3.0.2.32703.0-r2)?
(I don't want to upgrade to FB 3 yet; it seems that there are still some errors - missing files - in package installation; and for a complete backup/restore, I'd have to announce the downtime some weeks before to my customers...) Thanks, -Matt
