Are you using the version from fbug: http://code.google.com/p/fbug/source/browse/chromebug/branches/chromebug0.4/Readme.txt I just moved chromebug to live beside firebug yesterday...
http://getfirebug.com/releases has chromebug 0.4 and firebug 1.4a1; I did test these. I hope they work for you.
