The facts:
Thousands of people use Firebug 1.2 every day.
Firebug 1.3 and 1.4 both have numerous improvements and bug fixes
but none are so vast as you describe.
The impact of bug fixes in a complex tool used on complex systems is
highly variable: if your situation cause you to hit a bug then its fix
will have a large impact on you without having any consequence for
other users.
