I have just taken a little time looking at exactly how Firebug Lite works ... at first glance I am surprised at how simple it seems. I wouldn't think that it would be very difficult to get the cross page communication set up. Mike, if you would like to help out with the popup then feel free.
I don't see much that has been added to the Dojo implementation. The only two things I see are: 1) popup capability which saves the window size and position in a cookie 2) ReCSS, which is really just a simple CSS refresh method ... it simply adds a parameter to the end of the stylesheet url to refresh it. Currently, when a page is dynamically rendered and it is larger than the screen, Firebug can appear in the middle of the content and that is uncool. Making it draggable would help but opening in a new window is a better solution. It would probably be good for me to familiarize myself with FB Lite and see which feature requests have been made ...
