Is there a recommended or preferred development setup for Firebug
developers? I know this may seem like a simple question (Firefox 3.0
+ Firebug 1.3 should be stable, right???), but our office is really
struggling to use Firebug nowadays. We have 8 developers, 5 of whom
are more or less full-time on browser development. Most of us are on
Macs, and we're seeing what can only be described as "significant"
stability issues. We have to restart Firefox on a regular basis
(dozens of times per day) due to Firebug misbehaving in a variety of
ways.

Some of the symptoms include ...
- Browser hang/crash if a breakpoint is encountered before the page
finishes loading
- Unable to see source in the Script tab
- Script tab fails to scroll does not scroll to the debug pointer
(always scrolls to top of source)
- Page behaving as though JavaScript is turned off (no code executes,
no debugger statements hit)
- Missing/incomplete "watch" state. (Sometimes all that's shown is
"this". Expanding "this" shows no properties, even though there
should be some.)

It's reached the point where several of us are seriously considering
reverting back to FF2 + FB1.0 just to get our work done. :P If one or
more of the Firebug team could provide some hints as to how best set
up Firefox + Firebug to ensure as stable a debug environment as
possible, I and the rest of my team would be very grateful!

Cheers,

- Robert
